Improved Dry‐Pressing Strategy for Fabricating Double‐Sided Rough YSZ Electrolyte Thin Films and Their Performance in Solid Oxide Cells

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study addresses limitations of the conventional dry‐pressing method for electrolyte‐supported films—smooth surfaces, excessive thickness, and fragile supports inducing damage. We propose an innovative camphor–quartz sand composite architecture to construct a five‐layer (camphor/quartz sand/YSZ/quartz sand/camphor) system, enabling thin ...

Phase Sampling Profilometry

open access: yes, 2020
Structured light 3D surface imaging is a school of techniques in which structured light patterns are used for measuring the depth map of the object. Among all the designed structured light patterns, phase pattern has become most popular because of its high resolution and high accuracy.

Effect of Ramped Oxygen Flow During Magnetron Sputtering on the Structural, Optical, and Photoelectrochemical Properties of WO3‐x Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
A compositionally graded WO3‐x thin film was engineered through a controlled linear increase of oxygen flow during reactive magnetron sputtering. This deposition strategy yields a gradual transition from an oxygen‐deficient, conductive bottom layer to a more stoichiometric and crystalline surface layer, forming an intrinsic gradient homojunction.

On the torque and wear behavior of selected thin film MOS2 lubricated gimbal bearings [PDF]

open access: yes
During the thermal vacuum test phase of the GOES 7 spacecraft, the primary scan mirror system exhibited unacceptably high drive friction. The observed friction was found to correlate with small misalignments in the mirror structure and unavoidable loads ...

Dynamics of bubble absorption over porous membranes in an immersed medium

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
The dynamics of a bubble interacting with a flat, porous superhydrophobic membrane underwater has been illustratred. Abstract Porous superhydrophobic (SHP) membranes are gaining considerable attention due to their excellent underwater absorption and drag reduction properties.

Qualitative Assessment of Microalgae–Bacteria Biofilm Development on K5 Carriers: Photoheterotrophic Growth in Wastewater

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Wastewater (WW) treatment using biofilms harboring bacteria and microalgae is considered a promising polishing solution to improve current treatment technologies present in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), but their interaction in a sessile community

Nanolignin Functional Separators for Flexible Lithium–Sulfur Batteries With Enhanced Performance

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Nanolignin‐functionalized separators, incorporating lignin nanoparticles into a crosslinked PEGDA coating applied on commercial separators, reduce polysulfide shuttling, thereby enhancing cycling performance in flexible lithium–sulfur pouch cells, while also improving thermo‐oxidative stability and flame retardancy.

A single-shot line-scanning spatially dispersed short coherence interferometer using Fourier transform profilometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Single-shot inspection at nanoscale resolution is a problematic challenge for providing on-line inspection of manufacturing techniques such as roll-to-roll processes where the measurand is constantly moving.

Biofilm removal capacity and titanium surface integrity in non‐abrasive versus abrasive peri‐implantitis cleaning interventions

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Current peri‐implantitis treatment methods are modeled after dental cleaning modalities like abrasive surface cleaning. However, mechanical abrasive cleaning not only inadequately removes implant biofilms but also compromises implant surface integrity with adverse biological effects.
