European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.Surfactant protein D (SP‐D), an innate immune system component, is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) events incidence in the Spanish adult general population. Higher SP‐D categories were linked to a greater risk of developing CVD, even among non‐smokers, despite increased SP‐D levels being traditionally related to smoking.
