Extending Field Limits in Nanoscale Magnetic Imaging With Metamaterial‐Inspired Magnetic Flux Concentrators

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
Micrometer‐sized flower‐shaped metamaterial magnetic flux concentrators are fabricated directly around nano and micromagnetic samples, enabling local field enhancement. Integrated into magnetic sensitive photoemission electron microscopy, they extend the available magnetic field range by up to a factor of five.

Optical Phased Arrays on Photonic Integrated Circuit Platforms: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Applications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
Integrated optical phased arrays are emerging as scalable engines for solid‐state beam steering and programmable wavefront control. This Review maps the field from beam‐steering principles and core building blocks to material platforms, system‐level bottlenecks, and application frontiers, highlighting how heterogeneous integration, aperiodic ...

Space‐Time‐Coding Metasurfaces Enabling Programmable Range‐Angle‐Dependent Energy Auto‐Scanning

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
This paper presents a novel energy auto‐scanning system based on a space‐time‐coding metasurface. By applying progressive time‐delayed, time‐varying phase modulation, the system generates non‐uniform, temporally evolving electromagnetic field distributions across both angle and range.

Fully Polarimetric Radar Cross‐Section and High‐Resolution Range Profile Co‐Modulation via Diversely Time‐Modulated Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
A diversely time‐modulated metasurface enables broadband co‐modulation of fully polarimetric radar cross section and high‐resolution range profiles. By integrating anti‐parallel PIN diodes and programmable temporal coding, the platform dynamically redistributes scattering among HH/VV and HV/VH channels, generating tunable target weakening, false ...

Sub‐Ensemble Isolation in SERF Magnetometry Enabled by Micrometer‐Scale Polarization Control

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
Inter‐channel crosstalk caused by atomic diffusion fundamentally limits the spatial resolution of single‐cell multi‐channel SERF magnetometers. In this work, a spatial‐variant polarization metasurface is employed to achieve effective sub‐ensemble isolation within a single SERF atomic ensemble, which enables the suppression of inter‐channel crosstalk ...

Three‐Dimensional Array Multicasting of Cylindrical Vector Beams Using Spin‐Multiplexed Dammann Vortex Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
This study demonstrates, for the first time, a 3D volumetric cylindrical vector beam (CVB) multicasting architecture that employs multichannel array modes with an operational dimension of 3 × 3 × 5 as information carriers. This approach offers substantial potential for high‐capacity information dissemination in mode‐multiplexed communication networks ...

Robust Chiral High‐Q Response Driven by Quasi‐Bound Flatband in the Continuum

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
This work theoretically proposes and numerically realizes chiral flatband quasi‐BICs by engineering four counterpropagating folded guided modes. The chiroptical response arises from destructive interference of two antiphase intrinsic modes, and the flatband originates from the interactions among opposite curvature hybrid guided modes.

Suppressing Stitching Errors in Full‐Sensor‐Plane Color Routers via Optical Structural Similarity

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
Angle‐specific nanophotonic color routers are assembled from a library of inverse‐designed unit cells matched to local incidence angles. Optical structural similarity (OSS) constrains neighboring permittivity profiles during optimization, suppressing inter‐cell stitching errors without additional full‐wave simulations and enabling oblique‐incidence ...
