Integrating the Substituent Effect into the Wade-Mingos Rules for Dicarboranes. [PDF]

The new substituent‐counting rule, P = nM + 1.1nH, incorporates substituent effects into the Wade‐Mingos rules. By analyzing 74613 six‐vertex dicarboranes, the trigonal‐bipyrimidal isomer dominates at 89.1%, compared to the octagedron at 9.1%, providing a new platform for cluster design.
