Control, PRO , and the Projection Principle

This paper presents a theory of control (predication), in terms of thematic relations, which makes no use of the element PRO in the syntax. Important consequences of the theory are that the θ-Criterion must be relativized to particular local domains, and the Projection Principle cannot be maintained.

MELDRETH DRIBBLE‐CONTROL PROJECT

Summary Seven subnormal spastic children aged 15–16 years, who had the additional problem of profuse dribbling, were trained to associate an auditory cue, from a small box pinned to their clothes, with swallowing. A significant reduction in dribble rate was obtained for all children within the first week.

TUBERCULOSIS IN KOREA—A CONTROL PROJECT

A program sponsored by Church World Service was developed to aid the Korean people in efforts to control tuberculosis. It included plans for chest clinics, free diagnostic and therapeutic x-rays, sanatorium beds, education of professional personnel and the public, and visits of especially trained nurses to patients' homes.
