THE PROJECTION STICK INDEX OF KNOTS
Journal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 2009The stick index of a knot K is defined to be the least number of line segments needed to construct a polygonal embedding of K. We define the projection stick index of K to be the least number of line segments in any projection of a polygonal embedding of K. In this paper, we establish bounds on the projection stick index for various torus knots.

Knowledge-based indexing of the medical literature: The Indexing Aid Project
Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1987This article describes the Indexing Aid Project for conducting research in the areas of knowledge representation and indexing for information retrieval in order to develop interactive knowledge-based systems for computer-assisted indexing of the periodical medical literature. The system uses an experimental frame-based knowledge representation language,

The Merck Gene Index project (MGIP) fills an important niche in the Human Genome Project by directly identifying genes through sequences of their transcripts and placing in the public domain a set of EST sequences and associated clones for the uniquely expressed human genes.

IMPLEMENTING THE HARMONICA INDEX IN THE DYNAMAP PROJECT
24th International Conference on Sound and Vibration 2017, London CallingDynamap is a LIFE project aimed to develop a dynamic noise mapping system, able to detect and represent in real time the acoustic climate of road infrastructures. Dynamic noise maps are accomplished by simply scaling pre-calculated basic noise maps, prepared for different noise sources, traffic and weather conditions, as a function of the sound ...

Abstract Although much has been written in the 30‐year history of set‐theory about similarity relationships between set‐types, studies of this kind have generally focussed either on the inclusion relationship or on the relationship of interval‐class contents.

Front end planning is arguably the most impactful activity in the management of construction projects. Organizations expend substantial effort in planning large projects, intending to minimize risk and promote project success. Small projects –typically classified as such based on their lower costs – often have minimal planning completed prior to the ...

An index for sequential project selection
R&D Management, 1971Abstract.In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, a series of screening experiments is often run on a class of compounds or mixtures of several classes of compounds. The data obtained from the screens can be utilized to assess the project progress and/or the best routes to take for further research. This problem is similar in many ways to that of

It’s project time! Body-mass index (BMI) is a measurement some health-care professionals use to determine whether a person is overweight, and if so, by how much. To compute BMI, you need a person’s weight in kilograms and height in meters. The BMI is simply weight/height2, converted to a unitless value.
