Influence of Oxygen Contamination on the Genesis of Nonmetallic Inclusions in a Microalloyed Steel
steel research international, EarlyView.Oxygen contamination during melting of steels strongly affects the evolution of nonmetallic inclusions. Controlled remelting experiments, combined with SEM/EDS analysis and thermodynamic simulations, reveal how reoxidation promotes the transformation of alumina‐based inclusions into complex FeO–MnO oxides and other interactions.
