Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

Incidence of Barotrauma in Patients With COVID-19 Pneumonia During Prolonged Invasive Mechanical Ventilation – A Case-Control Study

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care Medicine, 2020
Background: SARS-CoV2 can cause pulmonary failure requiring prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation (MV). Lung protective ventilation strategies are recommended in order to minimize ventilator induced lung injury.

Impaired diaphragm resistance vessel vasodilation with prolonged mechanical ventilation.

open access: yesJournal of applied physiology, 2019
Mechanical Ventilation (MV) is a life-saving intervention, yet with prolonged MV (i.e., ≥ 6 h) there are time-dependent reductions in diaphragm blood flow and an impaired hyperemic response of unknown origin. METHODS Female Sprague-Dawley rats (4-8 mo,

From In‐Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi‐Intraneural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An epi‐intraneural interface is developed through in silico optimization and a novel tridimensional microfabrication pipeline. The device integrates penetrating and epineural contacts on a flexible substrate. Mechanical, electrochemical, and in vivo testing in rat and pig reveal robust implantation, low‐threshold activation, and site‐dependent ...

Preliminary Study of a Ninj1‐Loaded Bimodal Ultrasound/NIR Fluorescence Targeted Molecular Probe for Diagnosing Early‐Stage Inflammation in Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) targeting remains a challenge for precise diagnosis. This work presents a dual‐modal nanoprobe (T‐IR780‐NBs) that combines ultrasound contrast with near‐infrared fluorescence. This technology utilizes proteomics‐derived antibodies that specifically localize to inflamed and injured cardiac tissue, enabling ...

Left ventricular-arterial coupling is associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation in severe post-cardiac surgery patients: an observational study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2018
Background Weaning post-cardiac surgery patients from mechanical ventilation (MV) poses a big challenge to these patients. Optimized left ventricular-arterial coupling (VAC) may be crucial for reducing the MV duration of these patients. However, there is
