Prognostic value of NT‐proBNP in patients with primary mitral regurgitation undergoing transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
In the PRIME‐MR study, patients with higher N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) tertiles more frequently reached death or heart failure hospitalization (HFH) within 3 years. Log‐transformed NT‐proBNP levels independently predicted the primary endpoint (adjusted hazard ratio 1.17, 95% confidence interval 1.07–1.28; p < 0.001).

Real world testing and cost‐effectiveness analysis of subcutaneous EEG (REAL‐ASE): Protocol for a prospective multicentre interventional trial

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy is a common condition associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and costs. Poor documentation of seizures is a major challenge in epilepsy care. Objective seizure counting with mobile devices may mitigate this challenge and improve patient management.

A symmetric quantum calculus

open access: yes, 2011
We introduce the $\alpha,\beta$-symmetric difference derivative and the $\alpha,\beta$-symmetric N\"orlund sum. The associated symmetric quantum calculus is developed, which can be seen as a generalization of the forward and backward $h$-calculus.Comment:

A symmetric Norlund sum with application to inequalities

open access: yes, 2012
Properties of an $\alpha,\beta$-symmetric Norlund sum are studied. Inspired in the work by Agarwal et al., $\alpha,\beta$-symmetric quantum versions of Holder, Cauchy-Schwarz and Minkowski inequalities are obtained.Comment: Submitted 18-Oct-2011 ...

Decentralized Wind Energy Systems as Catalysts for Urban Resilience: A Design Framework

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confronting the escalating extreme weather events (EWEs) and intensifying winds, this study proposes an active response to these issues by exploring decentralized wind energy production for Peng Chau Island, Hong Kong. It integrates theoretical perspectives on energy democracy—empowering local communities through energy autonomy—and urban ...
