Linear Viscoelastic Responses: The Prony Decomposition Naturally Leads Into the Caputo-Fabrizio Fractional Operator

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2018
The study addresses the physical background and modeling of linear viscoelastic response functions and their reasonable relationships to the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional operator via the Prony (Dirichlet series) series decomposition.

An atlas of the heterogeneous viscoelastic brain with local power-law attenuation synthesised using Prony-series

open access: yesActa Biomaterialia, 2023
This review addresses the acute need to acknowledge the mechanical heterogeneity of brain matter and to accurately calibrate its local viscoelastic material properties accordingly. Specifically, it is important to compile the existing and disparate literature on attenuation power laws and dispersion to make progress in wave physics of brain matter, a ...

Cell Behavior and Complex Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed Cell-Laden Alginate-Gelatin Macroporous Mesostructures. [PDF]

open access: yesMacromol Biosci
Macroporous mesostructures were bioprinted using ALG‐GEL bioink loaded with U87 cells. Their printability was not affected by the cells, and the constructs were stable over 14 days. Mechanical properties and viability of cells were analyzed at days 0, 1, and 14, showing that the macroporous mesostructure did not affect cellular viability.

Prony estimation of AR parameters of an ARMA time series [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 1989
Abstract The auto-covariance function of a white noise excited time series can be decomposed into the contributions of different modes, therefore having the same structure as that of the impulse response of a deterministic system. By matching the auto-covariance of the data with that of the ARMA model, the estimation of the characteristic roots of ...

On the accuracy of solving confluent Prony systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we consider several nonlinear systems of algebraic equations which can be called "Prony-type". These systems arise in various reconstruction problems in several branches of theoretical and applied mathematics, such as frequency estimation ...

Comparison of Relaxation Modulus Converted from Frequency- and Time-Dependent Viscoelastic Functions through Numerical Methods

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Due to the difficulty of obtaining relaxation modulus directly from experiments, many interconversion methods from other viscoelastic functions to relaxation modulus were developed in previous years.
