Thermoviscoelastic Analysis of Axisymmetric Solid Propellant Grains
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1975Theme T paper presents a technique developed for the analysis of stress concentration in axisymmetric viscoelastic solids with a moving inner boundary. Using White's procedure of viscoelastic analysis, the technique is then used to analyze a case-bonded grain, in which a number of axisymmetric slots are spaced at intervals along the longitudinal ...

Transient thermal stresses in solid propellant grains
1st Annual Meeting, 1964This paper describes how finite-difference procedures are used to solve axisymmetric thermal stress problems with the aid of an electronic digital computer. In this solution, elasticity theory is employed in a stress-function formulation that includes the effects of continuously varying temperatures in both the axial and radial directions.

The Morphological Continuum in Solid Propellant Grain Design
1970Grain configurations for solid propellant rockets are classified by relative web thickness and mean vector direction of burning surface into a topological continuum. This ranges from the thin web dendrite (web equal to 1/6 of charge radius and entirely in the cross-section plane) thru the wagon-wheel- and star-perforated grains (1/4 to 1/2 web range ...
