Photoswitchable Ambiphilicity: Light‐Gated Frustrated Lewis Pair Reactivity and Z‐Type Interaction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Light‐controlled ambiphilicity is realized in photoswitchable intramolecular phosphorus/boron Lewis pairs. Reversible switching modulates both the thermodynamics and kinetics of frustrated Lewis‐pair reactivity, enabling light‐gated CO2 binding and release.

Electrolyte Interfacial Reactivity Regulates Alloying Anode Pulverization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte interfacial reactivity governs the degradation of micrometer‐sized alloying anodes by dictating grain refinement and SEI growth. A high‐reactivity ester‐based electrolyte drives pulverization into fine nanoparticles encapsulated by a thick SEI, forming dense electrodes, whereas a low‐reactivity ether‐based electrolyte enables porous ...

Synergistic Silylium‐Ion and Palladium Catalysis Enables Migratory Alkene Silylation With Allylsilanes by Formal C–H/C–Si Metathesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Merging silylium‐ion and palladium catalysis provides a mechanistically distinct route to allylsilanes by formal C–H/Si–H metathesis. Using allylsilanes as silicon proelectrophiles, various allylarenes undergo migrative silylation, selectively yielding (E)‐allylsilanes.

Structure and Spectroscopic Characterisation of Phenanthroline‐Based Iodobismuthate(III) Complexes Utilised for Raw Acoustic Signal Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Memristors based on trimethylsulfonium (phenanthroline)tetraiodobismuthate have been utilised as a nonlinear node in a delayed feedback reservoir. This system allowed an efficient classification of acoustic signals, namely differentiation of vocalisation of the brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula).

Dialkyl Ethers and Sacrificial Zinc: Oxide Synthons for Calcium tert‐Butoxide Formation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
When treated with dialkyl ethers, [(BDI)Ca‐μ‐H‐Zn(t‐Bu)2(η6‐C7H8)] (BDI = HC{C(Me)NDipp}2 initiates a sequence of twofold ether dealkylation and oxide sequestration as tert‐butoxide in a process predicated on a combination of extreme basicity and a cooperative redox process administered by the dissimilar constituent metals. Adaptive Hydrogenation of Alkynes Using CO as a Molecular Trigger to Selectively Produce Alkanes or Z‐Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
One catalyst for two products: CO acts as a molecular trigger for adaptive alkyne hydrogenation using supported Pd nanoparticles. The catalyst reversibly switches between the formation of alkanes under H2 and Z‐alkenes under H2/CO for 37 structurally diverse alkynes.
