On high proper motion white dwarfs from photographic surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The interpretation of high proper motion white dwarfs detected by Oppenheimer et al (2001) was the start of a lively controversy. While the discoverers identify a large fraction of their findings as dark halo members, others interpret the same sample as ...

The APM Proper Motion Project - I. High proper motion stars [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1992
Results are presented on a subset of proper motion data with |μ|≥0.04 arcsec yr −1 from the APM Proper Motion Project. Comparisons made with the NLTT catalogue show that the levels of contamination and incompleteness in this catalogue are consistent with the random measuring errors in the proper motions.

The Property of the Gaia Celestial Reference Frame 3 (Gaia-CRF3)

open access: yesUniverse
With the release of Gaia DR3, evaluating the performance and consistency of its reference frame (Gaia-CRF3) with the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF3) has become a critical task.

Experimental Detection of Organised Motion in Complex Flows with Modified Spectral Proper Orthogonal Decomposition

open access: yesFluids, 2023
Spectral proper orthogonal decomposition (SPOD) has seen renewed interest in recent years due to its unique ability to decouple organised motion at different timescales from large datasets with limited available information.

Proper motion of very low mass stars and brown dwarfs in the Pleiades cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We report proper motion measurements for 25 very-low mass (VLM) star and brown dwarf (BD) candidates of the Pleiades cluster previously identified by Bouvier et al. (1998). Proper motions are measured with an accuracy of 9 mas/yr, compared to an expected

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

An infrared proper motion study of the Orion bullets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We report the first IR proper motion measurements of the Herbig-Haro objects in the Orion Molecular Cloud--One using a four-year time baseline. The [Fe II] emitting bullets are moving of order 0.08 arcsec per year, or at about 170 \kms.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

About its own time and the mass of the universe

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2021
A modification of the quantum theory of gravity in the case of a closed universe, in which the dynamics is reduced to the motion in the orbit of a group of general covariance, is proposed.

Proper motion and apparent contraction in J0650+6001

open access: yes, 2010
We present a multi-epoch and multi-frequency VLBI study of the compact radio source J0650+6001. In VLBI images the source is resolved into three components.
