Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Interpolation of Transonic Flows Using a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2013
A proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method is used to interpolate the flow around an airfoil for various Mach numbers and angles of attack in the transonic regime.

An Application of a Modified Gappy Proper Orthogonal Decomposition on Complexity Reduction of Allen-Cahn Equation

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2020
This work considers model reduction techniques that can substantially decrease computational cost in simulating parmetrized Allen–Cahn equation. We first employ the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) approach to reduce the number of unknowns in the ...

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Extraction of the mode shapes of a segmented ship model with a hydroelastic response

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
The mode shapes of a segmented hull model towed in a model basin were predicted using both the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and cross random decrement technique.

Comparison of Flow Behavior in Saccular Aneurysm Models Using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition

open access: yesFluids, 2022
Aneurysms are abnormal ballooning of a blood vessel. Previous studies have shown presence of complex flow structures in aneurysms. The objective of this study was to quantify the flow features observed in two selected saccular aneurysm geometries over a ...

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Choice of Measurement Locations of Nonlinear Structures Using Proper Orthogonal Modes and Effective Independence Distribution Vector

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2014
This paper proposes a methodology to automatically choose the measurement locations of a nonlinear structure/equipment that needs to be monitored while operating.

Thermal convection inside an oscillating cube analysed with proper orthogonal decomposition

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2015
We reveal the fundamental and dominant flow structures of thermal convection in a cubic cavity under forced oscillation heated differentially by analysing the flow field with the proper orthogonal decomposition (referred to as POD).

Analysis of the 3D flow of an impinging jet on a slotted plate using TR-Tomo PIV and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2020
Impinging jets on plates with specific geometries, found in habitable enclosures, require a fundamental knowledge of the flow topology in order to reduce any acoustic or aeraulic discomfort.
