Analysis of the high-speed jet in a liquid-ring pump ejector using a proper orthogonal decomposition method

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2022
To analyze the complex spatiotemporal evolution law of the high-speed jet flow field in a liquid-ring pump ejector, both the classic and spectral proper orthogonal decomposition (SPOD) methods were introduced to decompose the transient flow field based ...

Phase-Averaging Methods for the Natural Flowfield of a Fluidic Oscillator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The presented study examines various methods for phase averaging the naturally oscillating flowfield of a scaled-up fluidic oscillator. No external trigger is employed to control the oscillation of the flow.

Parameter identification method for multibody systems incorporating the adjoint method and feature extraction based on the proper orthogonal decomposition

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2023
Many mechanical systems such as vehicles, robots and space structures are comprised of a lot of interconnected components. The motion of the components is constrained because of mechanical joints or specified motion trajectories.

Analysis of POD and EPOD for Unsteady Flow Field of Wind Turbine Airfoil

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao, 2022
The profile flow around the wind turbine airfoil has a significant impact on the overall performance and the noise of a wind turbine. In this paper, a combination method of large eddy simulation (LES) and the solution of Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW ...

Orthogonal decomposition of Lorentz transformations

open access: yes, 2012
The canonical decomposition of a Lorentz algebra element into a sum of orthogonal simple (decomposable) Lorentz bivectors is discussed, as well as the decomposition of a proper orthochronous Lorentz transformation into a product of commuting Lorentz ...

The triple decomposition of a fluctuating velocity field in a multiscale flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A new method for the triple decomposition of a multiscale flow, which is based on the novel optimal mode decomposition (OMD) technique, is presented. OMD provides low order linear dynamics, which fits a given data set in an optimal way and is used to ...

The Transient POD Method Based on Minimum Error of Bifurcation Parameter

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
An invariable order reduction model cannot be obtained by the adaptive proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method in parametric domain, there exists uniqueness of the model with different conditions. In this paper, the transient POD method based on the

Highly efficient optimization mesh movement method based on proper orthogonal decomposition [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2010
AbstractIn this paper, we implement the method of proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) to generate a reduced order model (ROM) of an optimization‐based mesh movement scheme. In this study it is shown that POD can be used effectively to generate an ROM, that accurately reproduces the full order mesh movement algorithm, with a decrease in computational ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
