Proper orthogonal decomposition analysis and modelling of the wake deviation behind a squareback Ahmed body [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Fluids, 2019
We investigate numerically the 3-D flow around a squareback Ahmed body at Reynolds number Re = 104. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is applied to a symmetry-augmented database in order to describe and model the flow dynamics.

Investigation of the three-dimensional turbulent near-wake structure past a flat plate by tomographic PIV at high Reynolds number [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper reports an experimental investigation of the high-Reynolds number turbulent flow pasta thin flat plate with sharpuntapered edges,by means of tomographic PIV.

Error estimation of a proper orthogonal decomposition reduced model of a permanent magnet synchronous machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Model order reduction methods, like the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), enable to reduce dramatically the size of a finite element (FE) model.

Numerical strategies for the Galerkin–proper generalized decomposition method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Proper Generalized Decomposition or, for short, PGD is a tensor decomposition based technique to solve PDE problems. It reduces calculation and storage cost drastically and presents some similarities with the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition, for ...

Analysis of Different POD Processing Methods for SPIV-Measurements in Compressor Cascade Tip Leakage Flow

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Though the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method has been widely adopted in flow analysis, few publications have systematically studied the influence of different POD processing methods on the POD results.

Analysis of POD and EPOD for Unsteady Flow Field of Wind Turbine Airfoil

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao, 2022
The profile flow around the wind turbine airfoil has a significant impact on the overall performance and the noise of a wind turbine. In this paper, a combination method of large eddy simulation (LES) and the solution of Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW ...

The shifted proper orthogonal decomposition: A mode decomposition for multiple transport phenomena [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Transport-dominated phenomena provide a challenge for common mode-based model reduction approaches. We present a model reduction method, which extends the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) by introducing time-dependent shifts of the snapshot matrix ...

A Randomized Proper Orthogonal Decomposition Method for Reducing Large Linear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method is a powerful tool for reducing large data systems which can quickly overwhelm modern computing tools. In this thesis we provide a link between randomized projections and statistical methods by introducing

Density Matrix Renormalization for Model Reduction in Nonlinear Dynamics

open access: yes, 2007
We present a novel approach for model reduction of nonlinear dynamical systems based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Our method, derived from Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG), provides a significant reduction in computational effort ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
