Expanders and property A [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic & Geometric Topology, 2012
We give a cohomological characterisation of expander graphs, and use it to give a direct proof that expander graphs do not have Yu's property A.

On relative property (T) and Haagerup’s property [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2011
We consider the following three properties for countable discrete groups $Γ$: (1) $Γ$ has an infinite subgroup with relative property (T), (2) the group von Neumann algebra $LΓ$ has a diffuse von Neumann subalgebra with relative property (T) and (3) $Γ$ does not have Haagerup's property. It is clear that (1) $\Longrightarrow$ (2) $\Longrightarrow$ (3).

On the Strength of a 316L-Type Austenitic Stainless Steel Produced by Selective Laser Melting

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The developed microstructure and the tensile behavior of a 316L-type steel produced by selective laser melting were studied. This paper particularly aims to clarify the dislocation substructures in the developed steel, focusing on the density of ...

Solid Solution Strengthening of Mo, Re, Ta and W in Ni during High-Temperature Creep

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Solid solution strengthening of the unordered γ matrix phase by alloying elements is of great importance during creep of Ni-based superalloys, particularly at high temperatures above 1000 °C.

Entanglement and properties [PDF]

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, 2003
AbstractVarious topics concerning the entanglement of composite quantum systems are considered with particular emphasis concerning the strict relations of such a problem with the one of attributing objective properties to the constituents. In particular we will focus our attention to composite quantum systems composed of identical constituents, with ...
