The Painlevé property for partial differential equations
, 1983In this paper we define the Painleve property for partial differential equations and show how it determines, in a remarkably simple manner, the integrability, the Backlund transforms, the linearizing transforms, and the Lax pairs of three well‐known ...

Abstract This chapter deals with the conflict of laws rules for property and for various kinds of transaction concerning property. The point of departure is to identify the various types of property recognised by the conflict of laws: immovable (for which the common law also has distinctive jurisdictional rules), tangible moveable ...

Semiconducting Polyfluorenes—Towards Reliable Structure–Property Relationships
, 2002Alkylsabstituted polyfluorenes have emerged as a very attractive class of conju gated polymers, especially for display applications, owing to their pure blue and efficient electroluminescence coupled with a high charge-carrier mobility and good ...

A clutter (V, E) packs if the smallest number of vertices needed to intersect all the edges (i.e. a minimum transversal) is equal to the maximum number of pairwise disjoint edges (i.e. a maximum matching). This terminology is due to Seymour 1977. A clutter is minimally nonpacking if it does not pack but all its minors pack.

Is Existence a Property of Properties?
2002Chapter 2 established that existence is not a property of individuals. This chapter engages the question whether existence is a property of properties of individuals, the property of being instantiated. We will be examining two main versions of this instantiation account of existence, the identitarian and the eliminativist.

The application of the resource-oriented approach used in this book confirms the prominent role of the resource Property in the resource portfolios of each of the three policy actors. Property consists of the ownership of property and use rights to material and immaterial (natural, manufactured, social and/or human) resources and the various bundles of

Property investments and the property market
1984In order to understand the property market and the behaviour of prices and yields under changing economic conditions, it is important to understand the nature and characteristics of the ‘goods’ being traded. The term ‘property’ throughout this book refers to land and buildings; what in England would be defined as ‘real’ property, as distinct from ...

It is often useful to ask of a point in the spectrum of an operator how it got there. To say that A is in the spectrum of A means that A — λ is not invertible. The question reduces therefore to this: why is a non-invertible operator not invertible?

Rights play an important role in private law. The owner of a car who has been damaged unlawfully by someone else has a right against the tortfeasor to be compensated (see chap. 6 on tort law). The seller of a car has the right against the buyer of the car to be paid the price for which the car was sold (see chap. 4 on the law of contracts).
