Les sociétés libérales et le commun : enjeux et perspective d’une ambivalence fondatrice

open access: yesDroit et Cultures
This article aims to challenge the notion that the liberal tradition has a singular way of defining social order and the common good. Indeed, for many orthodox liberal theorists of economic thought, the common good does not require the intervention of a ...

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...

Nurr1 Orchestrates Claustrum Development and Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nurr1 (Nr4a2) is the master transcription factor to control claustrum morphogenesis and cell fate decision postmitotically by inhibiting intracellular G‐protein signaling. Nurr1 deficiency alters the transcriptomic profiles of subcortical claustral neurons into neocortical insular neurons, resulting in defected claustrum development, impaired axonal ...

Abortion Once Again: a response to Feser, Goodwin, Mosquito, Sadowsky, Vance and Watkins

open access: yesRevista de Investigações Constitucionais, 2017
Only a libertarian would think to base an analysis of the abortion controversy on private property rights. The present paper does just that.  On that basis, it concludes that evictionism is the only policy compatible with libertarianism.

Creationism and evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In Tower of Babel, Robert Pennock wrote that “defenders of evolution would help their case immeasurably if they would reassure their audience that morality, purpose, and meaning are not lost by accepting the truth of evolution.” We first consider the ...
