Revisiting the Memoryless Property - Testing for the Pareto Type I Distribution

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics
We propose new goodness-of-fit tests for the Pareto type I distribution. These tests are based on a multiplicative version of the memoryless property which characterises this distribution.

Testing Properties of Generic Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A datatype-generic function is a family of functions indexed by (the structure of) a type. Examples include equality tests, maps and pretty printers. Property based testing tools like QuickCheck and Gast support the definition of properties and test-data generators, and they check if a monomorphic property is satisfied by the test cases.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Exploring the first possessor bias in children.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Even very young children are adept at linking property to owners (Gelman, Manczak, & Noles, 2012). However, some studies report that children systematically conserve property with the first possessors (Blake & Harris, 2009; Friedman & Neary, 2008).

The upper limit extension of loading frequency in the rotating bending fatigue test

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
Fatigue property in gigacycle regime is focused as an important subject in recent years. In such a long-life region, a tremendous long period is required to perform the fatigue tests. In order to overcome this difficulty, special types of fatigue testing

Testing nonstandard neutrino properties

open access: yesProceedings of 12th Neutrino Oscillation Workshop — PoS(NOW2024)
Neutrinos provide a compelling avenue to explore physics beyond the Standard Model. This proceeding is a brief summary of a plenary talk given at the 12th Neutrino Oscillation Workshop (NOW2024). We present a discussion on various topics on neutrino non-standard properties, such as the origin of neutrino mass, their decay modes, interaction mechanisms,

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
