MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Countermovement jump performance in Malaysian young wushu athletes: normative values and sex-based differences

open access: yesRevista de Artes Marciales Asiáticas
Wushu, commonly known as kung-fu, is a demanding sport requiring rapid force application to achieve significant vertical jump heights. These jumps are integral for executing complex aerial tasks and obtaining higher performance scores.

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

Influence of Jumboizing on Propulsive Performance

open access: yesJOURNAL OF THE MARINE ENGINEERING SOCIETY IN JAPAN, 1999
This paper is concerned with the influence of hull elongation on engine and propulsive performance. Though propulsive performance is known to relate closely to the principle dimensions of a ship, it is not yet clear how ship length can influence the performance of CPP (controllable pitch propeller) ship and FPP (fixed pitch propeller) ship, both of ...

A Quantitative Printability Framework for Programmable Assembly of Pre‐Vascular Patterns via Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) is presented as a powerful micropatterning tool. An objective printability framework is developed to assess optimal printing parameter combinations. The technology is further explored for its ability to deterministically deposit microdroplets at predefined locations following CAD designs, enabling the patterning of

The investigation of relationships among sprint and jump performance with velocity parameters during propulsive phase of full back squat exercise

open access: yesTürk Spor ve Egzersiz Dergisi, 2015
The basic purpose of this study was to investigate of the relationships with sprint and jump performance of velocity parameters during propulsive phase of full back squat exercise and to determine which variable was associated with which loading.

A Physics- and Data-Driven Study on the Ground Effect on the Propulsive Performance of Tandem Flapping Wings

open access: yesAerospace
In this paper, we present a physics- and data-driven study on the ground effect on the propulsive performance of tandem flapping wings. With numerical simulations, the impact of the ground effect on the aerodynamic force, energy consumption, and ...

Results of recent NASA research on low-speed aerodynamic characteristics of supersonic cruise aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes
The relatively low values of lift-curve slope produced by highly swept arrow wings, coupled with the low scrape angle of the fuselage, resulted in relatively low values of take-off and approach lift coefficients.
