Unveiling Multidimensional Physicochemical Design Principles for Tissue Processing Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes a materials‐based design framework for polymer hydrogels in tissue clearing, linking physicochemical properties to performance in tissue processing, labeling, and imaging. By analyzing rheology, swelling, porosity, antibody diffusion, mechanical performance, and thermochemical stability across platforms, this work provides a ...

Performance optimization of the gasdynamic mirror propulsion system [PDF]

open access: yes34th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1998
Nuclear fusion appears to be a most promising concept for producing extremely high specific impulse rocket engines. Engines such as these would effectively open up the solar system to human exploration and would virtually eliminate launch window restrictions. A preliminary vehicle sizing and mission study was performed based on the conceptual design of

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Investigation of a Compound Helicopter Flying the Depart and Abort Mission Task Element [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The next generation of rotorcraft will have to satisfy the appropriate handling qualities requirements before entering service. Many of these vehicles will operate at significantly greater speeds than the conventional helicopter and will therefore have

The 'upstream wake' of swimming and flying animals and its correlation with propulsive efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The interaction between swimming and flying animals and their fluid environments generates downstream wake structures such as vortices. In most studies, the upstream flow in front of the animal is neglected. In this study, we demonstrate the existence of

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

Dispensing Volumetric Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dispensing volumetric additive manufacturing (DVAM) prints 3D structures inside a photocurable resin droplet suspended from the tip of a glass pipette, enabling sequential printing without resin vats or manual part removal. Real‐time droplet profiling and ray‐tracing‐based correction compensate for optical distortion at the curved resin‐air interface ...

Body segments and biological maturation to estimate the propulsive force of the arm in young swimmers

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cineantropometria e Desempenho Humano, 2020
This study aimed to estimate the propulsive force of the arm (PFA) in young freestyle swimmers and propose an equation to estimate propulsive force, considering anthropometric variables and maturity offset.
