Influence of Burn Severity on Avifaunal Communities in Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest, Western Ghats

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Effects of burn severity [pyrodiversity] on avian community were studied in a tropical deciduous forest of Western Ghats. Bird community composition varied significantly across burn severity classes and the pyrodiversity‐biodiversity hypothesis was supported. Functional guilds showed contrasting patterns in the postfire environment.

Effects of integrated use of coffee husk and maize straw biochar‐based fertilizers on maize yields, nutrient uptake and soil properties in southern Ethiopia

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 25, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract In Ethiopia, the use of fertilizer is low due to high cost and limited availability, leading to low yields. Using organic amendment, such as biochar together with mineral fertilizers could be a more effective solution. A field experiment was conducted in clay‐textured soil with a slightly acidic pH of 5.82, located in southern Ethiopia to ...
