Relationship Between 8-iso-prostaglandin-F and Predicted 10-Year Cardiovascular Risk in Hypertensive Patients [PDF]

open access: yesLife
Background: 8-iso-prostaglandin-F2α (8-iso-PGF2α) is a recognized marker of oxidative stress. Previous studies suggested that 8-iso-PGF2α plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hypertension and cardiovascular (CV) diseases.

Prostaglandin F and 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin F in the endometrium and uterine flushings of sheep before implantation [PDF]

open access: bronzeReproduction, 1983
The concentrations of prostaglandin F (PGF) and its major metabolite, 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin F-2 alpha (PGFM), were measured in caruncular and intercaruncular endometrium of pregnant and non-pregnant ewes on Days 9, 11, 13 and 15 after mating (Day 0) and related to the content of PGF and PGFM in the uterine flushings.

Stereospecific conversion of prostaglandin D2 to (5Z,13E)-(15S)-9 alpha-11 beta,15-trihydroxyprosta-5,13-dien-1-oic acid (9 alpha,11 beta-prostaglandin F2) and of prostaglandin H2 to prostaglandin F2 alpha by bovine lung prostaglandin F synthase.

open access: greenProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1986
A prostaglandin F (PGF) synthase was recently purified from bovine lung that catalyzed the reduction of both PGH2 and PGD2 but at different active sites on the enzyme.

Effects of Brimonidine, Latanoprost, and Omidenepag on Tunicamycin-Induced Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Fibrosis in Human Trabecular Meshwork Cells [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules
This study evaluated the effects of α2-adrenergic agonist, prostaglandin F2α analog, and EP2 receptor agonist on tunicamycin-induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and fibrosis in human trabecular meshwork (TM) cells.

Cloning and expression of a cDNA for mouse prostaglandin F receptor.

open access: goldJapanese Journal of Pharmacology, 1994
A functional cDNA clone for mouse prostaglandin (PG) F receptor was isolated from a mouse cDNA library using polymerase chain reaction based on the sequence of cloned prostanoid receptors, and cross-hybridization screening. The mouse PGF receptor consists of 366 amino acid residues with putative seven transmembrane domains.

Insights into the prostanoid pathway in the ovary development of the penaeid shrimp Penaeus monodon. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The prostanoid pathway converts polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) into bioactive lipid mediators, including prostaglandins, thromboxanes and prostacyclins, all of which play vital roles in the immune and reproductive systems in most animal phyla.

A heterogeneous mixture of F-series prostaglandins promotes sperm guidance in the Caenorhabditis elegans reproductive tract. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2013
The mechanisms that guide motile sperm through the female reproductive tract to oocytes are not well understood. We have shown that Caenorhabditis elegans oocytes synthesize sperm guiding F-series prostaglandins from polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA ...

PROSTAGLANDINS F AND OVULATION IN MICE [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 1974
Prostaglandins (PGs) are known to exert profound physiological and pharmacological effects on the female reproductive system in women and in many other species (Weeks, 1972; Labhsetwar, 1974). Indomethacin and aspirin, inhibitors of prostaglandin biosynthesis, block PMSG-induced ovulation in immature (Armstrong & Grinwich, 1972; Orczyk & Behrman, 1972)
