Prostaglandin F(2 alpha) (PGF(2 alpha)) is a main luteolytic factor in vivo; however, its direct luteolytic influence on steroidogenic cells of bovine corpus luteum (CL) is controversial and not fully understood. The aim of the study was to clarify PGF(2

The distribution of prostaglandins A, E, and F in the human kidney
Prostaglandins, 1974Abstract Using recently developed radioimmunoassay techniques, prostaglandin concentrations were measured in two human cadaver kidneys which had been processed for transplantation but for which no recipient patients could be obtained. Portions of cortex, medulla, papilla, and ureter were obtained from each kidney.

AbstractConcentrations of prostaglandin F and steroids in plasma and in corpus luteum (CL) were studied by radioimmunoassay during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle in thirteen normal women. The average concentration of PGF in corpus luteum was 4.19 ± 1.59 ng/g (mean ± SE) (ranging from 0.03 to 20.5 ng/g) and in plasma was 208.1 ± 34.7 pg/ml ...

Identification of prostaglandin F-producing cells in the liver
Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 1999Prostaglandin (PG) F synthase forms PGF(2alpha) and 9alpha, 11beta-PGF2 from PGH2 and PGD2, respectively. PGH2 is synthesized from arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase (COX) and then metabolized to various PGs and thromboxane by specific enzymes. PGD2 is synthesized from PGH2 by PGD synthase.

Possible role of prostaglandin F in blastocyst implantation
Prostaglandins, 1986The synthesis and release of Prostaglandin F (PGF) by the rabbit blastocyst and endometrium were investigated on Day 6 and Day 7, using radioimmunoassay, autoradiography and conversion experiments. The following results were obtained: The content of PGF in the blastocyst increased significantly (P less than 0.01) from Day 6 to Day 7. The content of PGF

Mass spectra of prostaglandins
Analytical Biochemistry, 1973Abstract The mass spectra of the trimethylsilyl ester trimethylsilyl ether derivatives of prostaglandins F1α, F2α and F2β are reported and discussed. Accurate masses from the high resolution spectra of these compounds are also presented. These spectra are interpreted with the aid of those of the corresponding d9-trimethylsilyl derivatives and ...

Crystal structure of human prostaglandin F synthase (AKR1C3).
Biochemistry, 2004Prostaglandin H(2) (PGH(2)) formed from arachidonic acid is an unstable intermediate and is efficiently converted into more stable arachidonate metabolites (PGD(2), PGE(2), and PGF(2)) by the action of three groups of enzymes.
