Prostaglandin F2α Receptor-Dependent Regulation of Prostaglandin Transport
Molecular Pharmacology, 2001Prostaglandin (PG) F(2alpha) may act on its G protein-coupled receptor (FP) or be imported intracellularly via a transporter, which has high affinity for PGF(2alpha) and PGE(2), but not prostacyclin (PGI(2)). In cells overexpressing the epitope-tagged FP together with the human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT), stimulation of the FP with PGF(2alpha) (1

The synthesis of prostaglandin F by human endometrium in organ culture
Prostaglandins, 1975Slices of human endometrium obtained from hysterectomy specimens were cultured for 48 hours in an organ culture medium supplemented with ethanol (control, vehicle), 17-beta-estradiol (.5 mug/ml), or progesterone (.5 mug/ml). Uncultured endometrial tissue, cultured tissues, and the media were assayed for prostaglandin F (PGF) by a radioimmunoassay ...

Prostaglandin F2α is a primary prostaglandin which can also be produced from prostaglandin E2 by the action of prostaglandin E9-ketoreductase in some tissue. It causes contraction of uterine smooth muscle at all stages of pregnancy and is used as an oxytocic or abortifacient. It has vasoconstrictor and bronchoconstrictor properties.
