Cochlear implant prostheses: Strategies and progress

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 1980
Progress in development of elements of higher-generation cochlear implant devices is briefly summarized. Initial tests with early model devices indicate that these devices will gain wide application, as aids capable of effecting significant levels of speech recognition in the profoundly (totally) deaf.

Outcome assessment of implant-supported prostheses

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1998
From the dental professional's standpoint, implant rehabilitation offers dramatically improved treatment alternatives to orally disabled patients. However, what a patient perceives as important to their function and satisfaction with their prostheses may be quite different from what the dentist believes are significant health-related improvements. To ...

Soldering technique for osseointegrated implant prostheses

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1990
This article describes a method for making changes in the alignment of superstructures for osseointegrated implants. After a cast is made from a transfer impression, the teeth and plastic are removed from the framework. The framework is sectioned into as many pieces as necessary to realign it on the analogs in the cast. The pieces are held in soldering

Problems with prostheses on implants: A retrospective study

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1994
Prosthetic parameters for implant success have not been well defined but should include patient satisfaction and prosthesis maintenance, including adjustments and repairs. In addition, differences between fixed and removable implant-supported prostheses (ISPs) should be quantified.

Tooth intrusion in implant-assisted prostheses

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1997
Numerous reports and surveys have been published on natural tooth abutment intrusion with implant-connected fixed partial dentures. The consensus of these publications was that the cause of intrusion was multifactorial, with causative factors such as disuse atrophy, debris impaction, impaired rebound memory, and mechanical binding. It was also believed
