Using anatomic specimens from 58 fixed femurs, we analyzed the point of insertion and junctional variations of the gluteus medius, minimus and vastus lateralis over the greater trochanter. The aims of this study were to evaluate the success rates and peri-implant soft tissue responses of auricular implants, to assess prosthetic complications, and to calculate the survival rate of silicone auricular prostheses. Carcinogenic Risks of Metal Implants and Prostheses

Case reports of malignant tumors at sites of metal implants in humans and domestic dogs are reviewed; the results of carcinogenesis bioassays of implanted metallic nickel, chromium, and cobalt powders and alloys are summarized, and in vitro studies relevant to the carcinogenicity of metallic compounds and alloys are briefly discussed.
