IMPLANTABLE PROSTHESES FOR THE INNER EAR

open access: yesProceedings of the Canadian Engineering Education Association (CEEA), 2011
The aim of our research is to develop a proof-of-concept implantable vestibular prosthesis. Such a device would be capable of 6 DOF motion sensing based on MEMS technology, to mimic vestibular functions, and provide stimulus to the brain. In this paper, the feasibility of a vestibular prosthesis is reviewed.

Additively Manufactured 3D Auxetic Metamaterials for Structurally Guided Capacitive and Resistive Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐architected auxetic metamaterial is used to construct capacitive and resistive tactile sensors via digital light processing‐based additive manufacturing. The inward deformation of the proposed structure under compression amplifies local strain, enhancing sensing performance.

Polaronic and Electrochemical Signatures in Group IVB (Ti, Zr, Hf) Oxides: Unified SKP–DFT Insights for Tunable Transport in Energy and Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge carrier concentration and mobility in TiO2, ZrO2, and HfO2 powder films are experimentally mapped as a function of temperature. The results uncover polaron‐mediated transport regimes and field‐activated conduction, enabling the design of oxide‐based electronic and energy devices with thermally tunable functionality.

Towards High‐Acuity Vision Restoration: Hybrid Retinal Prosthesis Composed of a High‐Density Multielectrode Array Integrated With Glutamatergic Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a novel Hybrid Retinal Implant (HRI), composed of a high‐density electrode array integrated with glutamatergic neurons to overcome key limitations of current retinal prostheses. The significant reduction of activation threshold and of electrode cross‐talk yields in an improved spatial resolution.

Evaluation of Correlation Between Development of Multiple Cracks in Nonendodontically Treated Tooth and Placement of Dental Implants with Prosthesis

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: The result of increased occlusal stresses might be fractures in the teeth. It is still unclear how possible risk factors may affect the occurrence of tooth cracks after dental implants with prostheses in nonendodontically restored teeth. Aim:
