Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Musculoskeletal Infection Cases from a Tertiary Referral Center, Colorado, USA

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2019
Nontuberculous mycobacteria represent an uncommon but important cause of infection of the musculoskeletal system. Such infections require aggressive medical and surgical treatment, and cases are often complicated by delayed diagnosis.

Engineered Anti‐Senescence Trachea With Post‐Transplanted Regenerative Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioengineered trachea undergoes post‐transplanted senescence, which is found in this study for the first time. Hebe‐ET is designed with dual anti‐senescence strategies: fiber‐film scaffold in cartilage rings for close‐packed cell interaction, and quercetin‐loaded fibrous rings for immune modulation.

Aptamer‐Mediated Artificial Synapses for Neuromorphic Modulation of Inflammatory Signaling via Organic Electrochemical Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An aptamer‐mediated neuromorphic interface based on organic electrochemical transistors selectively transduces interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) signals into neuromorphic electrical outputs. This protein‐driven neuromorphic plasticity, responsive in physiological and in vivo environmental electrolyte, bridges biochemical signaling with artificial neural encoding ...

Smart Denture with Embedded Thin‐Film Temperature Sensors Patterned by Femtosecond Laser Pulse for Elderly Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
We demonstrate the direct‐laser patterning of a gold thin film on polymethyl methacrylate to fabricate a temperature sensor for dentures. The temperature sensor‐embedded smart dentures are evaluated in an oral environment, enabling in‐situ monitoring for elderly healthcare.

Application of Polymer Nanocomposites in the Design of Prosthetic Sockets That Feature Auxetic Meta‐Structures

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Lightweight prosthetic sockets constructed using auxetic meta‐structures can help reduce physical discomfort when compared to a similar lightweight socket featuring a nonauxetic meta‐structure. The chiral auxetic meta‐structured sockets demonstrated better contact pressure profiles at the interface between the socket and the residual limb.

Genomic Insights Into a Strong Biofilm‐Forming Enterococcus faecalis MTR_EFS01 Strain Isolated From a Shrimp in Bangladesh

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study characterizes a multidrug‐resistant and strong biofilm‐forming Enterococcus faecalis strain obtained from a shrimp sample in Bangladesh. ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis is known for its ability to form strong biofilms and its role as an opportunistic pathogen. In this study, we screened and characterized a multidrug‐resistant (MDR) and strong
