Osseointegrated Implants: An Alternative Approach in Patients with Bilateral Auricular Defects due to Chemical Assault

open access: yesCase Reports in Otolaryngology, 2016
Acid attacks committed as crimes of passion are unfortunately becoming far from infrequent occurrence. The injuries sustained in such attacks mainly involve the face and trunk, with the acid causing cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue burns that can result

Transient elastohydrodynamic lubrication analysis of a novel metal-on-metal hip prosthesis with a non-spherical femoral bearing surface

open access: yes, 2011
Effective lubrication performance of metal-on-metal hip implants only requires optimum conformity within the main loaded area, while it is advantageous to increase the clearance in the equatorial region.

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

A Soft Robotic Device for Targeted Massage Therapy of Residual Limbs

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Residual limb edema after amputation can hinder recovery and delay prosthetic fitting. This study presents a soft‐robotic wearable device that delivers sequential compression through pneumatic McKibben actuators. By replicating the principles of manual lymphatic drainage, the device generates controlled mechanotherapeutic pressure patterns, providing a

Combined tomography and conventional impression with notch system to fabricate prosthesis with palatal obturator in patients with severe limited mouth opening

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences
In oral cancer therapies, surgery or radiotherapy frequently result to maxillary defects and limited mouth opening (LMO). For prosthetic rehabilitation, these sequelae present significant challenges to achieving accurate impressions.
