Design Optimization and Prosthesis Classification

2015
The evolution of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) is presented from a prosthesis design perspective along with the results of a design optimization analysis in which 32 different geometric iterations of the Grammont reverse shoulder were evaluated to identify parameters that minimize scapular impingement while maximizing range of motion and ...

Multifunctional hand prosthesis setup design

2016 Medical Technologies National Congress (TIPTEKNO), 2016
In this study, two channels, multifunctional myoelectric prosthesis hand is designed and operated for biomedical and control engineering departments laboratory as experiment apparatus. Various analog signal processing steps are implemented to the surface EMG signals which received on the triceps and biceps muscles.

Design and testing of a flexible hip prosthesis

Clinical Biomechanics, 1994
A prosthesis with flexibility and optimal proximal fit was constructed in titanium alloy. The aim was to create the same elasticity as in the femoral shaft. Distally it was cylindrical with slots in the stem and a spacer made of polymer was placed in the slots.

A New Patella Prosthesis

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1975
The new patella prosthesis design is based on an anatomical study of 80 arthritic patellas and on the normal patellofemoral contact area under loading in cadaver knees. The metal dome-shaped prosthesis is attached by a central pin. The patellar prosthesis is constructed either of metal or plastic for use in combination with the Hospital for Special ...

Design of a new intervertebral disc prosthesis

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract In the degenerative disc disease, the traditional treatment consists in a removal of the intervertebral disc followed by the fusion of the two adjacent vertebral bodies (arthrodesis). An alternative treatment is the use of an artificial intervertebral disc.

Advances in penile prosthesis design

Current Sexual Health Reports, 2007
Researchers have long searched for an effective surgical therapy for impotence throughout recorded history. Early attempts at surgical therapy involved various rigid devices to supplement the natural erection process. Medicine has since turned to prosthetic implants.

Optimizing Ossicular Prosthesis Design and Placement

2018
Middle ear hearing reconstruction is unpredictable. Difficulties arise because of host factors, such as ventilation or scarring, surgical technique factors, such as prosthesis placement and stabilization, and design and mechanical factors influencing the properties of the prosthesis.
