The mechanics of the knee and prosthesis design [PDF]
The mechanisms controlling and limiting movement and serving to transmit load between the femur and the tibia are discussed. Having accounted for the transmission of all components of force and couple across the joint and noted the load-bearing role of the menisci, some principles which might guide the design of knee prostheses are deduced.

The design of a reflectionless arterial prosthesis [PDF]
We propose a new technique to characterize a reflectionless arterial prosthesis. The corresponding transmission and reflection coefficients are determined from the geometric and the elastic properties of the arterial wall, and the interaction between the latter and the prosthesis are studied accordingly.

An Analysis of Theories in Biomechanics
The nature of the systems commonly thought of as coming into the remit of biomechanics range from 'mechanical' systems (concerned with the design of medical devices, such as implants) to 'mechanobiological' systems (concerned with the response of tissues,

Effects of prosthetic design parameters on running performance of a unilateral transfemoral amputee
Carbon fiber running-specific prostheses (RSPs) are widely used among lower-limb amputee runners. However, which prosthesis provides the best performance for runners remains unknown.

Progress on Designing a Chemical Retinal Prosthesis
The last major review of progress toward a chemical retinal prosthesis was a decade ago. Many important advancements have been made since then with the aim of producing an implantable device for animal testing. We review that work here discussing the potential advantages a chemical retinal prosthesis may possess, the spatial and temporal resolutions it
