Risk Factors for Prosthesis Failure in Pulmonary Valve Replacement
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2011After initial right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction, replacement of the pulmonary valve (PVR) with a bioprosthetic valve may be performed. Bioprosthetic valves fail (PVF) and require repeat replacement. Identification of risk factors for PVF would be useful for clinicians choosing among various options for the initial PVR.We retrospectively ...

Mechanical Failure of the Repiphysis Expandable Prosthesis
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2010The current treatment of osteosarcoma includes neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by wide resection of the tumor and postoperative chemotherapy. While amputation of the extremity was once the mainstay of treatment, medical and surgical developments over the last several decades have led to the success of limb-salvage surgery1,2.

Failure of the Jonas Prosthesis
Journal of Urology, 1986A total of 27 patients received the standard Jonas silicone-silver penile prosthesis. The procedure was done at 3 separate hospitals by 2 surgical teams. Four patients who were reported on previously presented consecutively to our clinic with failed penile rigidity and complete multiple wire fractures were found at reoperation. Therefore, the remaining

Mechanical failure of omniphase penile prosthesis
Urology, 1988We report a case of mechanical failure due to cable breakage in both cylinders of an OmniPhase penile prosthesis. The failure occurred six weeks after implantation and was manifested by inability to activate the device. X-ray films showed cable fracture at the point of insertion into the activator mechanism bilaterally.

Mechanical Failure with Malleable Penile Prosthesis
Urology, 2007Mechanical failure with a malleable penile prosthesis is very rare, and no mechanical failure has been reported with the AMS 650 malleable penile prosthesis. A 67-year-old man, using the AMS 650 malleable penile prosthesis without a problem since 1999, presented with right penile deformity and difficulty in sexual intercourse for the preceding 2 months.

Implant Complications and Failures: The Fixed Prosthesis
Dental Update, 2002The implant-retained fixed prosthesis has been advocated as an effective restoration offering significant benefits over conventional prosthetics. The success of treatment depends on careful pre-surgical planning and prosthesis design. This paper outlines some common complications encountered during the planning, fabrication and maintenance of both ...

Mechanical failure of a St. Jude Medical prosthesis
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1991Abstract The St. Jude Medical (SJM) prosthetic cardiac valve is a low-profile, bileaflet mechanical valve with an excellent record of durability and a low overall complication rate.1–3 Mechanical failure is a rare occurrence with this valve.4 We report a case of mechanical failure of a SJM prosthesis due to leaflet fracture with subsequent ...
