Younger age increases the risk of early prosthesis failure following primary total knee replacement for osteoarthritis

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica, 2010
Background and purpose Total knee replacements (TKRs) are being increasingly performed in patients aged ≤ 65 years who often have high physical demands. We investigated the relation between age of the patient and prosthesis survival following primary TKR

Modelling the durability of multibody total hip joint prosthesis [PDF]

open access: yesSurveys in Mathematics and its Applications, 2020
The Total Hip Prosthesis (THP) is one of the biggest successes of the 20th century in the field of orthopaedic biomechanical engineering. The loss of stability THP are scheduled failure.

First experience of transcatheter implantation of a Russian-made MedLab-CT prosthesis in a patient with dysfunction of biological mitral valve prosthesis

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал, 2020
We present a case report of successful transcatheter implantation of a Russian-made cardiac valve prosthesis in a patient with dysfunction of biological mitral valve prosthesis (valve-in-valve).

Penile Prosthesis in Transgender Men after Phalloplasty

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2022
A penile prosthesis can be successfully implanted after phalloplasty in transgender men to permit sexual intercourse. A prosthesis can be categorized as malleable or inflatable.

Repeat Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Transcatheter Prosthesis Dysfunction.

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2020
BACKGROUND Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) use is increasing in patients with longer life expectancy, yet robust data on the durability of transcatheter heart valves (THVs) are limited. Redo-TAVR may play a key strategy in treating patients

Multi-energy spectral photon-counting computed tomography (MARS) for detection of arthroplasty implant failure

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
To determine whether state-of-the-art multi-energy spectral photon-counting computed tomography (MARS) can detect knee arthroplasty implant failure not detected by standard pre-operative imaging techniques.

Clinical exploration of the international society of limb salvage classification of endoprosthetic failure using Henderson in the application of 3D-printed pelvic tumor prostheses

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
BackgroundThe use of 3D-printed pelvic prosthesis for postoperative reconstruction after pelvic tumor resection has become one of the primary reconstruction methods the incidence of complications related to postoperative prosthesis reconstruction is high.

Total femur prosthesis in oncological and not oncological series. Survival and failures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, 2020
Total femur prosthesis (TFP) can be used in both oncological and prosthetic revision surgery. A retrospective analysis of 32 patients receiving a TFP at a single Center between 2002 and 2018 was performed. The average follow-up was 60 months. Revision implant free survival (RIFS) of the implants was 87% at 5 and 10 years and 72% at 15 years.

Automatic Identification of Failure in Hip Replacement: An Artificial Intelligence Approach

open access: yesBioengineering, 2022
Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) follow-up is conventionally conducted with serial X-ray imaging in order to ensure the early identification of implant failure.

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks
