Pre-peritoneal prosthetic herniorraphy [PDF]
Summary The usual operations for inguinal hernia suffer from a number of undesirable features, which are briefly discussed. A new operation is described, in which the sites for potential herniation are protected with a synthetic prosthesis, as in Usher’s method of incisional herniorrhaphy (1962).

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

The normalization of the cyborg: from futuristic artistic expression of mutilation to daily aesthetic beauty [PDF]
The concept of mutilation as a permanent scarring of the integrity of the body has been overcome by the representation in visual culture of the cyborg, the bionic human and the genetically and bionically engineered mutant. Mutants with bionic prosthetics

Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.
