Our study examines how climate change and farming practices impact soil ecosystems, focusing on energy flux through the soil food web. We found that less intensive, sustainable farming methods help maintain soil ecosystem functioning, even under changing climate conditions.

Fossil labidostomatid mites (Prostigmata: Labidostommatidae) from Baltic amber [PDF]
Unequivocal fossil records of the mite family Labidostommatidae (Acari: Prostigmata: Trombidiformes) are described from Eocene Baltic amber. These two modern-looking specimens can be assigned to the extant genus Labidostomma Kramer, 1879 and are formally described here as Labidostomma paleoluteum sp. nov.

The study shows temporal dynamics of invertebrate succession in cattle dung by a multi‐taxon approach. Functional redundancy was found within groups of beetles and flies important for dung decomposition, suggesting functional stability and resilience in the system.
