Fate of bromide, nicosulfuron and prosulfocarb in a system of watercourses : Field experiment near Brakel

open access: gold
To test the TOXSWA model, we conducted a field experiment in a watercourse system with flowing water. Tracer bromide, weakly sorbing nicosulfuron, and strongly sorbing prosulfocarb were sprayed onto a 50 m stretch. At 47 m from application, stretch concentrations decreased by 20% due to longitudinal dispersion. At 302 m, the stretch decrease was > 60% (

Bee bread collected by honey bees (Apis mellifera) as a terrestrial pesticide biomarker to complement water studies. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
Bee bread as a biomarker for exposure of terrestrial organisms is a valuable complement to conventional water monitoring allowing a near‐time recording of the applied pesticides and including nonpersistent pesticides. Abstract BACKGROUND Pesticides in aquatic environments are frequently studied, yet those in terrestrial environments remain relatively ...

Insights into ALS-inhibiting herbicide resistance in Poa annua in an arable cropping system. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
Variable cross‐resistance to ALS inhibitors in five Poa annua populations from wheat fields in Ireland caused by different TSR mutations. Abstract BACKGROUND Dependence on a single herbicide type to control a broad‐spectrum of weeds has resulted in cases of resistance to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors in weeds normally considered lower priority

Probabilistic modelling of the inherent field-level pesticide pollution risk in a small drinking water catchment using spatial Bayesian belief networks [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2022
Pesticides are contaminants of priority concern that continue to present a significant risk to drinking water quality. While pollution mitigation in catchment systems is considered a cost-effective alternative to costly drinking water treatment, the ...

Subcellular Responses and Avoidance Behavior in Earthworm Eisenia andrei Exposed to Pesticides in the Artificial Soil

open access: yesAgriculture, 2023
Earthworms are key organisms of the soil ecosystem and bioindicators for soil quality. While pesticides are used for the improvement of crop yields, they also present a burden for soil organisms.
