Complete mitochondrial genome of the spotted nutcracker Nucifraga caryocatactes (Passeriformes: Corvidae) from Shan’xi Province, China

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
We determined the whole mtDNA genome of the Spotted Nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes) in Tianlong Mountain, Shan’xi Province, China. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,914 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGS), 22 tRNA genes,

野生脊椎动物TRPM8冷激活的适应性进化

open access: yesWildlife Letters, 2023
Temperature influences all biological processes. In wild animals, the evolution of molecular thermosensors is crucial in ambient temperature adaption and habitat selection with species specificity.

The Geopolitics of Protected Areas

open access: yesGeopolitics, 2019
The conservation enterprise is embedded in ideas of the environment through which it promotes a vision of the world and the relations between the non-human and human.

The complete mitochondrial genome of water deer in Liaoning, China

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
We determined the whole mtDNA genome of the water deer (Hydropotes inermis) in Benxi, Liaoning. The total length of the complete mitochondrial genome is 16,355 bp and it consists of 13 protein-coding, 22 tRNA, rRNA genes, and 1 control region (CR).

Managing freshwater, river, wetland and estuarine protected areas

open access: yes, 2021
Better practices for managing inland aquatic ecosystems in protected areas—including rivers, other brackish and freshwater ecosystems, and coastal estuaries—are the focus of this chapter.

Cross‐species transmission of feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV‐1) to chinchillas

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2022
Background Herpesviruses are a class of double‐stranded DNA viruses found in both vertebrates and invertebrates. They are usually highly host‐specific and do not easily spread across species.

Opportunities for cost-sharing in conservation: variation in volunteering effort across protected areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Efforts to expand protected area networks are limited by the costs of managing protected sites. Volunteers who donate labor to help manage protected areas can help defray these costs.

Management costs for small protected areas and economies of scale in habitat conservation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Protected area management must be resourced adequately to achieve its conservation objectives. The variability in management costs across candidate sites for protection therefore should inform conservation planning.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Metagenomic and Transcriptomic Datasets of Plateau Brown Frogs (Rana kukunoris) from the Helan Mountains

open access: yesScientific Data
Global climate change has become a primary driving factor behind the biodiversity crisis in amphibians, making it crucial to understand how climate change affects species and their potential responses.
