Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Pan-Influenza A Protection by Prime–Boost Vaccination with Cold-Adapted Live-Attenuated Influenza Vaccine in a Mouse Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Influenza virus infections continually pose a major public health threat with seasonal epidemics and sporadic pandemics worldwide. While currently licensed influenza vaccines provide only strain-specific protection, antigenic drift and shift occasionally

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Preconditioning by Cilostazol Protects against Cold Hepatic Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAnnals of Transplantation, 2015
In liver transplantation, prolonged cold storage and post-transplant reperfusion are associated with endothelial inflammation, organ dysfunction, and graft failure. We herein studied whether cilostazol, a phosphodiesterase-3-inhibitor, attenuates post-ischemic liver injury after prolonged cold storage.Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to 5 groups (n=6 ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

THE PROTECTION AFFORDED BY VACCINATION AGAINST SECONDARY INVADERS DURING COLDS IN INFANCY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1934
All intensive course of vaccination with the pathogenic bacteria of the upper respiratory tract modified favorably the winter outbreak of severe respiratory disease in an infant population. The incidence of the common cold was not affected. The significance of these findings is discussed.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Immunogenicity and Protective Effect of Live Cold-Adapted Vaccines against Influenza B after Intranasal Immunization of Mice

open access: yesЭпидемиология и вакцинопрофилактика, 2015
Live attenuated («att») vaccines based on cold-adapted («ca») strains are a promising approach of influenza prophylaxis enhancement, however, effectiveness evaluation as well as interrelation with immunogenicity should be elucidated, especially for ...

Dopamine and Lipophilic Derivates Protect Cardiomyocytes against Cold Preservation Injury

open access: yesThe Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2014
Donor heart allografts are extremely susceptible to prolonged static cold storage. Because donor treatment with low-dose dopamine improves clinical outcome after heart transplantation, we tested the hypothesis that dopamine and its lipophilic derivate, N-octanoyl dopamine (NOD), protect cardiomyocytes from cold storage injury.

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.
