Compact Single‐Shot Incoherent Edge Detection With a Polarization‐Multiplexed Metalens

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A polarization‐sensitive metalens enables single‐shot incoherent edge detection by generating two polarization‐dependent images and digitally subtracting them to realize a high‐pass optical transfer function. ABSTRACT Edge detection under incoherent illumination is highly desirable for compact vision systems but remains challenging due to the lack of ...

AI‐Driven Rational Design of Nanotherapeutics for Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains a formidable malignancy characterized by late diagnosis, high recurrence rates, and pronounced chemoresistance. While nanoparticle‐based drug delivery systems (NDDS) offer theoretical advantages over conventional therapies, their clinical translation in PDAC has been severely limited.

Transforming a Poaching Hotspot: Embedded NGO Governance Between State and Community in Southern China

open access: yesPublic Administration and Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines how a local environmental NGO in southern China transformed Guantouling Hill, once a prominent poaching hotspot along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway, into a recognised model of community‐based biodiversity conservation.

Co‐Production as State‐Building: Relational Capacity and the Prevention of Violent Extremism in the Global South

open access: yesPublic Administration and Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article advances a theory of co‐production as a relational state‐building strategy for countering youth radicalisation in fragile states. Grounded in fieldwork in northern Togo, affected by jihadist incursions from the Sahel and home to a predominantly young population, we argue that co‐production extends state presence into ‘brown areas’

Aboveground herbivory elevates belowground rhizosphere volatile organic compound concentrations in ambient and polluted air, independent of volatile sampling methodology

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The effect of air pollution on plants is still underexplored, especially belowground. We used a field facility that released diesel exhaust and ozone at concentrations equivalent to those near a busy road in Reading, UK, to measure belowground gas exchange of Scots pine together with feeding by large pine weevils, a major pest of conifers.

Automatic insect identification, counting, and monitoring techniques: a review

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Automated insect monitoring increasingly integrates optical, acoustic, infrared, radar, electrostatic, and biosensing technologies with artificial intelligence. No single approach is universally optimal; reliable deployment depends on task‐specific validation, representative datasets, robustness under field conditions, energy autonomy, connectivity ...
