Effect of triethyllead on post-translational processing of myelin proteins

Experimental Neurology, 1982
Abstract The effect of triethyllead (PbEt3) on entry of newly synthesized proteins into myelin was studied in an in vitro system of brain stem slices prepared from actively myelinating young rats. The slices were incubated 30 min with [3H]leucine then the labeling of proteins was halted by a chase with cold amino acid and the slices were incubated an

SYNTHESIS AND POST-TRANSLATIONAL PROCESSING OF SURFACTANT PROTEIN C

Pediatric Pathology & Molecular Medicine, 2001
Traditional thinking about surfactant proteins has centered around their effects on the biophysical properties of surfactant phospholipids. Accumulated data now suggests that the four major surfactant proteins (SPs) are a biochemically and functionally diverse group of mammalian peptides that have function beyond modification of alveolar surface ...

The effects of manufacture processes on post-translational modifications of bioactive proteins in pertussis vaccine

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2020
Because the increasing morbidity of pertussis in all age groups worldwide, the quality of pertussis vaccines has aroused a common concern. To improve the quality of pertussis vaccine in research and production, the effects of manufacture processes on post-translational modifications (PTMs) of bioactive proteins in pertussis vaccine were investigated by

The role of post-translational modification in ϐ-amyloid precursor protein processing

Biochemical Society Symposia, 2001
The ϐ-amyloid precursor protein (APP) plays a pivotal role in the early stages of neurodegeneration associated with Alzheimer's disease. An alteration in the processing pattern of the protein results in an increase in the generation of the 40-42-amino-acid ϐ-amyloid (Aϐ) peptide, which coalesces to form insoluble, extracellular amyloid deposits.

Post-translational processing of 7S and 11S components of soybean storage proteins

Plant Molecular Biology, 1981
The synthesis and processing of the major storage proteins in soybean cotyledons was studied both in vivo and in vitro. The α and α' subunits of 7S as well as the 11S proteins are synthesized as higher molecular weight-precursors on membrane-bound polysomes.
