Case Report: An Ulceration With a Stalactite Appearance on the Index Finger

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
Proteus mirabilis, the most widespread species of all Proteus spp. bacteria, is proven to be one of the most universal pathogens in chronic wounds. In this case, a woman in her 40s consulted a physician about an asymptomatic ulceration with a stalactite ...

Development of a phage cocktail to control Proteus mirabilis catheter-associated urinary tract infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
"Article 1024"Proteus mirabilis is an enterobacterium that causes catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) due to its ability to colonize and form crystalline biofilms on the catheters surface.

Fimbriae of uropathogenicProteus mirabilis [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Immunology & Medical Microbiology, 2007
Proteus mirabilis is a common causative agent of cystitis and pyelonephritis in patients with urinary catheters or structural abnormalities of the urinary tract. Several types of fimbriae, which are potentially involved in adhesion to the uroepithelium, can be expressed simultaneously by P.

CRISPR-Cas systems in Proteus mirabilis

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2021
The Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) is a bacterial defense mechanism against bacteriophages composed of two different parts: the CRISPR array and the Cas genes. The spacer acquisition is done by the adaptation module consisting of the hallmark Cas1 Cas2 proteins, which inserts new spacers into the CRISPR array.

Repeat Intraocular Sampling and Microbiological Testing in Infectious Endophthalmitis: A 27‐Year Prospective Observational Study at an Australian Statewide Tertiary Referral Centre

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endophthalmitis requiring multiple ocular tissue sampling for microbiological testing is uncommon and has not been previously studied. This study aims to analyse cases with at least two ocular tissue samplings and testing of different ocular samples against culture yields. Methods A 27‐year prospective observational study using data

Multivalvular infective endocarditis with Proteus mirabilis

open access: yesIDCases, 2022
Proteus species belong to the Enterobacteriaceae family and are gram-negative-rods, commonly known to cause urinary tract infections and asymptomatic bacteriuria in elderly patients with risk factors such as diabetes mellitus and urinary catheterization.

Study the effect of different temperatures on the biofilm production in Proteus mirabilis isolated from urinary tract infection patients

open access: yesAl-Qadisiyah Journal Of Pure Science, 2020
15 isolates (39.4%) of Proteus mirabilis  were obtained from a total of 38  patients with urinary tract infections  in Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital. All isolates were diagnosed with phenotypic, microscopic and biochemical tests.

Identity Gene Expression in Proteus mirabilis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2011
ABSTRACT Swarming colonies of independent Proteus mirabilis isolates recognize each other as foreign and do not merge together, whereas apposing swarms of clonal isolates merge with each other. Swarms of mutants with deletions in the ids gene cluster do not merge with their parent ...

A Review of Phage Therapy for Aquaculture Applications: Efficacy, Health Ramifications and Research Challenges

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, EarlyView.
Bacteriophage therapy is characterised by numerous advantages, facilitating its diverse aquaculture application and efficacy as an antibiotic alternative mitigating the spread of antimicrobial‐resistant pathogens. Contributing to the modern reappraisal of the aquaculture application of bacteriophage therapy, challenges impeding its widespread ...
