Properties of Proteus mirabilis phage 13vir
Phage 13vir is a sheath-tailed phage (Prozesky, de Klerk & Coetzee, 1965, Pl. 1, fig. 5) which arises from single clones of Proteus mirabilis strain 13 (Coetzee & Sacks, 1960). It forms large clear plaques on strain 13. The phage may carry a constitutive mutation in an operator gene which controls development of the prophage in strain 13.

Chemical Constituents and Biological Activities of Oxandra (Annonaceae): A Review
ABSTRACT Oxandra (Annonaceae) comprises 29 species distributed across South and Central America. Despite this diversity, the genus remains under‐investigated. This study presents the first comprehensive review of the chemical composition and biological activities of Oxandra species, utilizing databases such as SciFinder, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and ...

Cryptic Lysogeny in Proteus mirabilis
Summary Proteus mirabilis strains 13 and 5006 on rare occasions liberate temperate phages, 13M and 5006M, which may reinfect parent strains. These prophages are not inducible but the probability of phage liberation may be increased by growth in nitrosoguanidine. P. mirabilis strain 34 liberates a phage, φ34, spontaneously. Strain 34 is doubly lysogenic

Antibacterial Activity of Some Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs against Proteus mirabilis
In some recent investigations, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol demonstrated antibacterial action. This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effects of diclofenac, piroxicam, and paracetamol against multidrug-resistant ...

Methods for eradication of the biofilms formed by opportunistic pathogens using novel techniques – A review [PDF]
The inconvenient environmental conditions force microorganisms to colonize either abiotic surfaces or animal and plant tissues and, therefore, form more resistant structures – biofilms.
