Mitochondrial Genome Reduction and Accelerated Evolution in Planktonic Foraminiferans

The mitochondrial genomes of the eukaryotic lineage Retaria (Foraminifera and Radiolaria) show reductions in multiple gene categories, including complex I, transfer RNAs (tRNAs), ribosomal proteins, and ribosomal RNAs.
