Protocluster Assembly: Observations And Theory
In this review talk I give an overview of the theory of protocluster formation and assembly in terms of Lambda-CDM cosmology. I describe the implications of hierarchical and stochastic cluster assembly. I report on recent observations that illuminate the assembly of clusters, focussing on the distribution and velocity structure of protocluster galaxies,

Kinematic Analysis of z = 4.3 Galaxies in the SPT2349–56 Protocluster Core
SPT2349−56 is a protocluster discovered in the 2500 deg ^2 South Pole Telescope (SPT) survey. In this paper, we study the kinematics of the galaxies found in the core of SPT2349−56 using high-resolution (1.55 kpc spatial resolution at z = 4.303 ...

The Timescales of Embedded Star Formation as Observed in STARFORGE
Star formation occurs within dusty molecular clouds that are then disrupted by stellar feedback. However, the timing and physical mechanisms that govern the transition from deeply embedded to exposed stars remain uncertain.

Galaxy populations of protoclusters in cosmological hydrodynamical simulations
Context. The study of protoclusters at cosmic noon is essential for understanding the impact of the environment and of the transformational processes occurring during this epoch on galaxy properties. Aims. This work tests the predictions regarding galaxy evolution of the DIANOGA cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of cluster progenitors at z = 2.2 ...
