Electrochemical Properties of SPEEK/Epoxy Semi-interpenetrating Network Composites as Proton Exchange Membrane

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
The DS 68% SPEEK composite membranes with were prepared by post-sulfonation. Using diethylenetriamine as the epoxy cross-linking agent, which is uniformly distributed in SPEEK, to form SPEEK/epoxy semi-interpenetrating network structure and explore the ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Analyzing the impact of Temperature on Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell performance Using Matlab

open access: yesSukkur IBA Journal of Emerging Technologies, 2018
The Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel cell (PEMFC) is an electrochemical engine that converts the chemical energy of hydrogen into electrical energy. It receives hydrogen at anode and oxygen at the cathode side, due to chemical reaction at electrodes ...

Studies on the SPEEK membrane with low degree of sulfonation as a stable proton exchange membrane for fuel cell applications [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, Fuel Cell & Energy Storage, 2017
Sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) with a low degree of sulfonation (DS = 40%) was prepared for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC).

Operando Visualization of Cathode Water Management in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers Using Synchrotron X-Ray Radiography. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
The cathode of proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers remains a poorly understood region despite its importance for hydrogen purity and operational safety. Operando synchrotron X‐ray radiography directly visualizes liquid water behavior and uncovers a transition from continuous to pulsating transport, providing new insight into multiphase ...

Polymer membranes for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell : recent advances and challenges

open access: yes, 2011
Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered to be a promising technology for efficient power generation in the 21st century. Currently, high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (HT-PEMFC) offer several advantages, such as high

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

A high conductivity Cs2.5H0.5PMo12O40/polybenzimidazole (PBI)/H3PO4 composite membrane for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells operating at high temperature

open access: yes, 2008
A high conductivity composite proton-exchange membrane Cs2.5H0.5PMo12O40 (CSPOM)/polybenzimidazole (PBI) for use in hydrogen proton-exchange fuel cells has been prepared. The CsPOM composite membrane is insoluble in water.

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...
