Reduced complexity models for water management and anode purge scheduling in DEA operation of PEMFCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this work, the dynamic behavior of Fuel Cell operation under Dead-Ended Anode conditions is shown. A DEA can be fed with dry hydrogen, since water crossing through the membrane is sufficient to humidify the fuel.

A Budding-Defective M2 Mutant Exhibits Reduced Membrane Interaction, Insensitivity To Cholesterol, And Perturbed Interdomain Coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Influenza A M2 is a membrane-associated protein with a C-terminal amphipathic helix that plays a cholesterol-dependent role in viral budding. An M2 mutant with alanine substitutions in the C-terminal amphipathic helix is deficient in viral scission. With

Electrochemical Properties of SPEEK/Epoxy Semi-interpenetrating Network Composites as Proton Exchange Membrane

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
The DS 68% SPEEK composite membranes with were prepared by post-sulfonation. Using diethylenetriamine as the epoxy cross-linking agent, which is uniformly distributed in SPEEK, to form SPEEK/epoxy semi-interpenetrating network structure and explore the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
