Physicochemical Reinforcement Unlocks Sterilization‐Stable Anisotropic Hydrogels for Cell‐Compatible Mock Arteries

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In vitro arterial models offer ethical and robust alternatives for vascular research but require cytocompatible materials that replicate physiological mechanics. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels produced by directional freezing and salting‐out (PVA DFSO) are anisotropic yet lack stability for cell culture. Herein, methacrylated PVA (PVA‐MA)

The Mu-MASS (MuoniuM lAser SpectroScopy) experiment

open access: yes, 2018
We present a new experiment, Mu-MASS, aiming for a 1000-fold improvement in the determination of the 1S-2S transition frequency of Muonium (M), the positive-muon/electron bound state.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Porosity Engineering of MXene Architectures: Toward High‐Performance Aqueous Electrochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in porosity engineering of MXenes, with a focused discussion on their structure‐governed energy storage properties. A critical analysis of structure–property relationships is presented across alkali‐ion batteries, multivalent‐ion batteries, and supercapacitors.

Nanoscale Fourier-Transform Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2013
We report a method for nanometer-scale pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy. Periodic radio-frequency pulses are used to create temporal correlations in the statistical polarization of a solid organic sample.
