Proton Transfer and Supercontraction in Actomyosin
Nature, 1959IT has been previously reported that the synaeresis of actomyosin gels with adenosine triphosphate is accompanied by changes in the X-ray diffraction pattern indicating that some part of the actinmyosin complex undergoes supercontraction1. The recent observation by Goodall2 that one or more protons at each active site are involved in the production of ...

Proton Transfer in Nanoconfined Polar Solvents. II. Adiabatic Proton Transfer Dynamics
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005The reaction dynamics for a model phenol-amine proton transfer system in a confined methyl chloride solvent have been simulated by mixed quantum-classical molecular dynamics. In this approach, the proton vibration is treated quantum mechanically (and adiabatically), while the rest of the system is described classically.

The transfer coefficient in proton transfer reactions
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1990Abstract The temperature dependence of the transfer coefficient observed in proton transfer reactions is discussed. In contrast to electron transfer reactions, the electric field is expected to have a major effect on the potential energy surfaces of the system.

This chapter describes proton transfer equilibria. It begins by looking at the Brønsted–Lowry theory of acids and bases, according to which an acid is a proton donor and a base is a proton acceptor. The strength of an acid is reported in terms of its acidity constant and that of a base in terms of its basicity constant.
